No. 17 Soccer Falls To No. 11 UConn

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 17-ranked Miami soccer team was shutout by No. 11 Connecticut, 5-0, in the BIG EAST Northeast Division battle for first place Friday night.
The Hurricanes, shutout for the first time this season, fall to 6-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the BIG EAST. The Huskies (6-2-0, 3-0-0) improve to 3-0 in the all-time series with UM.
UConn’s head coach Len Tsantiris earned his 350th win, a feat only North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance has accomplished. No other coach in collegiate women’s soccer had even reached the 300-win mark.
The Huskies remain in first place in the standings with three conference wins, Miami remains in second-place.
Alexa Borisjuk scored two goals and assisted a goal for the Huskies. Kaycee McElree scored the game-winning goal unassisted at 28:47.
UConn totaled 19 shots, compared to eight for UM. The Huskies took five corner kicks, UM took four.
UConn goalkeeper Erin Rice made three saves in the winning effort.
The Hurricanes are back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. hosting St. John’s.
