CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 14-ranked Miami soccer team looks to extend its five-match winning streak as it plays host to cross-town rival Florida International Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.

The Hurricanes enter the contest 5-0-0, their best start in school history. UM recently shutout the No. 20-ranked Florida Gators, 1-0, in Gainesville, Fla. The win was the first-ever for Miami against a ranked opponent and the first against the Gators.

FIU enters the contest with a record of 3-1. The all-time series is knotted at two-all, with the Golden Panthers winning the last meeting, 3-2, at FIU last season.

Junior midfielder Laura West (Allen, Texas) has been impressive offensively, leading the team and the BIG EAST in points with 10. She also leads the team with four goals on the season.
