UM Women Take Fifth At UCF Invitational

Orlando, FL – University of Miami senior Jennifer Geroux (Balto, MD) finished 11th with a time 19:07.30 to lead the Hurricane women’s cross country team (145 points) to a fifth-place finish out of 16 teams at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, FL.

Florida (23 points) won the event with host UCF (87 points) finishing second. Florida Southern (104 points) finished third while Tampa (137 points) was fourth.

Miami had three runners finish in the top-25 individually including Geroux, junior Melissa Norris (Pembroke Pines, FL) who finished 15th with a time of 19:24.50, and freshman Marilyn Ruiz (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) who recorded a 25th-place finish (19:44.20).

Rounding out the UM scoring was freshman Lauren Diaz who finished 60th (21:16.90) and Michelle White who took 70th (21:43.10).

The Hurricanes return to action on Friday, September 14th at the FIU Invitational at Tamiami Park in Miami, FL.
