Soccer Hosts FAU In Home Opener

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -The University of Miami soccer team will play host to Florida Atlantic Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Cobb Stadium in its 2001 home opener.

The Hurricanes started the new season in exciting fashion, beating Loyola 5-1 and George Mason 3-2 in the Seminole Soccer Tournament at Florida State this weekend.

The FAU Owls are also undefeated shutting out Georgia Southern 2-0 and Wofford 4-0 this weekend.

Laura West leads UM with three goals scored, including the game-winning goal in the win over GMU.

Vonda Mathews has six points on the season, with two goals and two assists.

Goalkeeper Rachel Elsby enters the contest with a record of 2-0 and seven saves on the young season.

Miami leads the all-time series with FAU 3-0.
