CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes begin intensive work for the 2001 football season with two-a-day practices beginning Friday, August 10. Newcomers report Sunday, Aug. 5, and the varsity returnees report to camp on Wednesday, Aug. 8. Full-squad two-a-day practices begin two days later on Friday, Aug. 10. Practices will be open to the public from Aug. 7 to Aug. 15.
The Hurricanes begin the 2001 football season Saturday night, Sept. 1, when UM visits Penn State at 8 p.m. in a game that will be nationally televised by ABC Sports.
Here’s a summary of UM’s 2001 preseason football practice schedule:
Aug. 5 Newcomers report
Aug. 7 Freshmen practices (8:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m.)
Aug. 8 Varsity returnees report – Freshmen practice at 8:30 a.m.
Aug. 9 Hurricanes Media Day (news media only)
Two-A-Days (Aug. 10-21)
Aug. 10-15 Practices at 8:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. – open to the public
Aug. 22 Off Day (classes begin)
Aug. 24-31 Regular practice
Sept. 1 Miami at Penn State (8 p.m.)
