No. 28 Women's Tennis Downs Auburn, 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The 28th-ranked Miami women’s tennis team crushed the Auburn Tigers 6-1 Thursday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes won their third straight improving to 13-5 overall, while Auburn drops to 3-11 on the season.

In doubles, the Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead after winning at No. 1 and No. 2. The duo of Alanna Broderick and Katia Bogomolova won 8-4 at No. 1 over Carolina Maurer and Katia Illarionova, while Marcy Hora and Lauren Scaglione clinched the match at No. 2 with a 9-8 (3) victory over Liz Sauerborn and Martina Janska.

Miami continued to dominate into singles play with wins at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots.

Bettina Hafner beat Maurer in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, while Bogomolova downed Carolina Ramirez in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (10) on court No. 3.

Hora improved her dual match record to 13-5 with a win at No. 4 over Summa Edwards, 6-1, 6-1.

Freshman Sihem Bennacer also improved to 13-5 on the season with a win at No. 5 over Sauerborn, 6-0, 6-1.

Scaglione picked up a win over Janska on court No. 6 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

The Hurricanes are back in action Sunday traveling to face No. 21 South Alabama.
