UM Basketball Banquet Set For April 18

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will hold its annual awards banquet on April 18, 2001 at the Biscayne Bay Marriott in Miami, FL.
The evening will begin with a reception at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $50 per person or $400 for a table of eight. For more information or to make reservations, please contact the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6699.
This season, under first-year head coach Perry Clark, the Hurricanes recorded their seventh consecutive winning season posting an overall record of 16-13 and advanced to post-season play for the fifth straight season and for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Miami will return 11 letterwinners and four starters next season including All-BIG EAST selections John Salmons and Darius Rice.
Salmons, a 6-7 junior, earned third-team All-Conference honors and was the only player in the BIG EAST this season to rank among the league leaders in scoring (14.0), rebounding (6.3), assists (4.4), steals (1.9) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.43).
Rice, a 6-10 freshman, became the first Hurricane since Tim James in 1995-96 to be named to the All-Rookie team after leading Miami in scoring (14.1), field goals (140) and three-point field goals (62). This season Rice established UM freshman single-game records for scoring (35) and three-point field goals (7). He is the first freshman in UM history to record two 30-point scoring games in a season.
