Women's Crew Host Syracuse, North Carolina, UCF and Navy

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The University of Miami women’s crew will host Syracuse, North Carolina, UCF and Navy in races beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. through 11 a.m., then picks up again at 1 p.m. through 3 p.m.
The Hurricanes will be racing its first and second varsity eight, first and second novice eight, varsity four and novice four against the four schools.
The 2001 varsity women’s eight consists of Jenny Krawec, Monika Manios, Jacqui Julien, Dorien Ten Have, Mandy Turner, Bridget Gallagher, Yianna Reizakis, Marijka VanderPol and coxswain Meg Venezia. The second varsity eight features Jordanna Heywood, Bernadette Lack, Trisha Blackwell, Stephanie Tilley, Caroline Stewart, Ananda Chou, Dorothy Clay, Maggie Knuth and coxswain Jenny Lee.
Krawec, Julien, Gallagher, Turner and coxswain Cina Quezada will row the varsity four, while Manios, Ten Have, Reizakis, VanderPol and Lee will handle the second varsity four.
Hurricane crew will host another home event during the spring season, next weekend, March 24 with races against Connecticut and Florida Tech at UM’s home course on Indian Creek in Miami Beach. The event will be followed by two special boat christenings of an eight “Liz Dee” and a four “Peter Maivia”. UM Crew is housed at the Ron Shane Watersports Complex at 6500 Indian Creek Drive.
