PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team (10-12, 4-7 BIG EAST) rebounded from their loss to Connecticut with a, 71-66, victory at Providence (9-13, 4-8 BIG EAST) today.

The Hurricanes led by senior captain Gina Graziani and junior co-captain Camilla Osth, who each had career highs in points, earned a hard fought BIG EAST road victory. Graziani finished with 22 points and 4 assists, while Osth scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help the `Canes cause.

The teams traded baskets for much of the game, with Miami’s largest lead, 26-15, coming with 8:22 left in the first half and Providence’s largest lead, 45-43, coming with 16:05 left in the second half.

The game came down to the wire, as the `Canes held on for the victory by making six of their final eight free throws with under 15 seconds left, while the Friars couldn’t muster a basket.

Miami held Providence to .328 shooting from the floor and forced 17 turnovers, while only turning the ball over nine times themselves.

Freshman Meghan Saake also contributed to the win, with a great all-around effort, by scoring six points, dishing out seven assists, and grabbing seven boards.

Providence was led by Jen Gombotz (13 pts., 12 rebs.) and Monika Roberts (12 pts., 11 rebs.).

This game also marked Coach Ferne Labati’s 350th career victory.
