Men's Basketball To Play Final Exhibition

Nov. 12, 2000

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will take on Global Sports in an exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex on UM’s campus.

Admission is free.

The game marks the final exhibition for the Hurricanes who open the regular season on Nov. 18 at 7:45 p.m. against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, FL. The Hurricanes home opener against Columbia will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Miami Arena.

Miami returns eight letterwinners from last season’s 23-11 squad that won the BIG EAST regular season championship and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

The Hurricanes will be led this season by 6-7 junior guard John Salmons. Salmons started all 34 games last season averaging 9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and two assists per game.

Salmons scored a team-high 13 points in Miami’s 60-36 exhibition game victory over Club Pinheiros (Brazil) on November 2.
