UM Soccer Ties 1-1 With Seton Hall In Double Overtime

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.–For the first time this season the University of Miami women’s soccer team tied 1-1 in double overtime with Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. Sunday afternoon.
Miami moves to 7-8-1 overall, while Seton Hall moves to 6-9-1 overall.
The Hurricanes are now 0-3-1 in overtime this season.
Miami scored first as Vonda Matthews (Broken Arrow, Ok.) shot the ball into the top right corner of the net on a pass from Lisa Gomez (Boca Raton, Fla.) at 6:57.
The Hurricanes played great defense and took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Pirates came back in the second half and scored 30 seconds into the period as Whitney Dula scored at 45:30.
The scored remained knotted at one all, sending the game into double overtime.
Miami dominated both overtime periods, taking seven shots, including four shots on goal, compared to only two shots for the Pirates.
The hard fought battle ended in a tie game.
Goalkeeper Elizabeth Swinson (Boca Raton, Fla.) had a great outing with nine saves on the day.
The Hurricanes return home facing Rutgers Friday at 7 p.m. at Cobb Stadium. Admission is free.
