UM Soccer Falls 2-1 In Overtime To Colgate

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Colgate University in overtime Sunday afternoon in Hamilton, N.Y.

Miami falls to 6-8 on the season, while Colgate improves to 8-4.

Sena Maziarz scored first for Colgate at 13:21 after a ball popped over a defensive player’s head, Maziarz kicked the loose ball into the net.

UM was quick to answer back as Mary Luke scored a goal at 35:49 on a 35-yard right corner pass from Lisa Gomez tying the game one all.

The score remained knotted up at one all the duration of regulation. Meade McCarthy scored 13 minutes into the 15-minute overtime period on a scramble right in front of the box.

Miami ended the match with 33 shots, compared to 25 for Colgate.

The Hurricanes are 0-3 in overtime games this season.

The Hurricanes are back in action Friday afternoon as they travel to face Villanova at 4 p.m. in Villanova, Penn.
