'Canes Travel To FAU

CORAL GABLES, FL – The University of Miami Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams travel to Boca Raton on Saturday, January 29 to do battle with intra-state rival Florida Atlantic.
The Hurricane swimming and diving teams are coming off a meet in which the women (7-4) and the men (3-8) both defeated the Huskies of the University of Connecticut. The women won by a score of 136-101, while the men tallied a victory with a score of 140-97.
So far this season, the Hurricane women have been led by 1999 NCAA Diver of the Year and senior All-American Jenny Keim (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), senior All-American Amy Lindblom (Milford, CT), senior NCAA qualifier Julie Kemp (Potomac, MD), junior Jen Weir (Cooper City, FL), freshman Elaine Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, NJ), and freshman Katie Beth Bryant.
The Hurricane men have been led by sophomore All-American Stefan Ahrens (Lictenhagen-Dorf, Germany), junior Daniel Asencio (Newark, NJ), and sophomores Scott Gentles (Atlanta, GA) and Wesley Stoddard (Huntsville, AL).
Earlier this season, the Hurricane women defeated FAU, 132-128, while the men fell to the Owls, 184-80.
Following this weekend’s meet, the `Canes return to action on the weekend of February 11-13 to compete in the All Star Diving Invitational in Orlando, FL.
