Varsity Women's Crew Sponsor Fourth Annual Creek Sweep

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami varsity women’s crew program and the City of Miami Beach will coordinate the Fourth Annual Creek Sweep, Sunday, October 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Indian Creek waterway on Miami Beach.
This joint effort between UM Crew and the City of Miami Beach, along with the Miami Beach High School rowing program and the Miami Beach Watersports Center, will help to clean up the beautiful waterway that is home to this community’s rowing courses.
By boat and shore, the effort will be to clean up one of the City’s most treasured resources, Indian Creek. The Creek runs parallel to Collins Avenue from 23rd Street up to 59th Street and north along Indian Creek Drive. The Creek Sweep effort will be focused on the Indian Creek Waterway north of 41st Street up to 71st Street.
Over 100 participants are expected to attend the event, and many more are needed. The participants will include members from the University’s crew program, as well as the Miami Beach High School rowers, City of Miami Beach dignitaries and workers from the Miami Beach Watersports Center.
Volunteers and donations are needed for the success of this event. Funds will be used to underwrite the cost of nets, grappling hooks, t-shirts, refreshments and tools.
Creek Sweep volunteers will meet at the Ronald Shane Watersports Center, 6500 Indian Creek Drive at 8:30 a.m. for registration and assignments.
