Women's Crew Finishes Fourth At Princeton Match Race
April 17, 2000
Princeton, NJ – Both University of Miami varsity eights finished in fourth place at this past weekend’s Class of 1975 Cup, hosted by Princeton University on Lake Carnegie.
In the first varsity eight race, sixth-ranked and host-school Princeton (6:40.30) took a slight lead off the start, never by more than a couple of seats, followed by No. 9 Radcliffe (6:44.48) and Cornell (6:48.20), with guest crew Miami (7:09.86) in fourth. Approaching the 1000-meter mark, Radcliffe made a challenge at Princeton’s lead. Princeton soon pushed away, earning much of its winning margin in the third 500 meters.
In the second varsity eight race, Princeton (6:50.30) placed first ahead of Cornell (7:02.56), Radcliffe (7:03.09) and Miami (7:15.05).
UM women’s crew returns to action on April 30, for the Georgetown Invitational for BIG EAST schools on the Potomac River in Washington D.C.
