Women's Tennis Soars Over Eagles

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 29th-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team (5-5) defeated visiting BIG EAST rival Boston College, 8-1, on Thursday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on the Coral Gables campus. The match will be televised on Fox Sports Net on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m.

UM won six of seven singles matches as Alanna Broderick (St. Andrew, Jamaica), Lauren Scaglione (Seminole, FL), Igna DeVilliers (Capetown, South Africa), Katia Bogolomova (Moscow, Russia), Eva Jimenez (Madrid, Spain) and Ali Baxter (Chicago, IL) all collected wins.

The `Canes swept doubles as the teams of DeVilliers/Jimenez, Broderick/Marcy Hora (Delray Beach, FL) and Laughlin/Scaglione all garnered victories.

The Hurricanes return to action on Friday, March 10 against Virginia Commonwealth at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on the Coral Gables Campus. The match is set for 2 p.m. Admission is free.
