Hurricanes Take On No. 1 Connecticut

CORAL GABLES, FL – The University of Miami women’s basketball team (8-9, 2-4 BIG EAST) will host the No. 1-ranked University of Connecticut (18-0, 7-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, January 29 at 4 p.m. at the Miami Arena. This is the 17th meeting between the two schools with UCONN holding a 11-5 advantage. UConn has won 11 consecutive vs. the `Canes dating back to the 1993-94 season, prior to that the Hurricanes had won five in a row.

The game marks the first of two home games for the Hurricanes, before they play three road games. Most recently, the `Canes fell to Villanova on the road, 44-34. Freshman Alicia Hartlaub scored 14 points in the effort and Martha Bodley grabbed seven rebounds.

The Hurricanes are led by Alicia Hartlaub (10.2 ppg., 6.8 rpg.) and Gina Graziani (9.6 ppg., 5.9 apg.).

The Huskies travel to Coral Gables looking to continue their 18-game winning streak. UCONN is led by Shea Ralph (15.4 ppg., 5.1 apg.) and Svetlana Abrosimova (13.7 ppg., 5.9 rpg.)
