HURRICANES TAKE ON ST. JOHN’S
JAMAICA, NY – The University of Miami women’s basketball team (6-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) continues on a three-game road swing with a BIG EAST matchup vs. St. John’s (5-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) Saturday, January 8 at 2 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
This is the 17th meeting between the two schools. Miami holds the series advantage 11-6. The teams split last year’s series with each winning on their home courts. UM avenged a, 76-72 (ot), road loss to the Red Storm by handing SJU a, 83-51, loss in Coral Gables later in the season. Both teams will be vying for their conference win of the year.
UM is 6-5, 0-1 BIG EAST on the season, most recently falling to No. 11 Rutgers, 65-45, on Wednesday. Miami is led offensively by Sheila James (15.1 ppg., 4.9 rpg.) and Gina Graziani (8.9 ppg., 6.3 apg.).
St. John’s carries a record of 5-7, 0-2 BIG EAST entering tomorrow’s contest. Leading the Red Storm are guards Giani Bowles (13.4 ppg., 2.2 apg.) and Latasha Thompson (10.6 ppg., 1.7 apg.)
