Webster Named To Sports Illustrated's All-Bowl Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami linebacker Nate Webster was named toSports Illustrated’s All-Bowl team released Wednesday. Webster, a juniorfrom Miami, earned the honor following his 14-tackle performance in Miami’s28-13 win over Georgia Tech in the Toyota Gator Bowl.

Webster, the Most Valuable Player of the Gator Bowl, registered 14 tackles(six solo) to lead a Hurricane defense which held the nation’s number oneranked offense to its lowest point total of the season. Georgia Tech’soffense, led by Heisman Trophy runner-up Joe Hamilton at quarterback, washeld without a passing touchdown for the first time this season. With theperformance, the Hurricane defense extended its streak of not allowing apassing touchdown to 27 quarters.

Webster led Miami in the regular season with 150 tackles (92 solo),while setting a single-season record for interceptions by a UM linebackerwith four. A four-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, Webster wasnamed a first-team All-American by CBS Sportsline and a second-teamAll-American by the Associated Press, Football News and the Sporting News.
