Hurricanes Take On No. 11 Rutgers

Piscataway, N.J. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team (6-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) will take on No. 11 Rutgers (8-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 7:30 p.m. at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on the New Brunswick campus.

The game marks the Hurricanes first conference game of the season and is the first contest of a three-game road swing. Most recently, UM handed Atlantic 10 foe Temple a, 64-44, loss on Sunday in Coral Gables. Sophomore Sheila James scored a career-high 23 points. She was joined in double figures by Dona Nando who scored a career-best 16 points. Meghan Saake managed 10 points. Kathryn Fowler grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

This is the 13th meeting between the two schools with the Scarlet Knights holding a 4-8 advantage in the series including five straight dating back to the 1996-97 season.

The Hurricanes are led by James (15.4 ppg., 4.6 rpg.) and Saake (9.8 ppg., 5.0 rpg.) Freshman Alicia Hartlaub leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 per game.

Shawnetta Stewart leads the Scarlet Knights with 13.6 points per outting.
