Women's Hoops Hosts Temple Today

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami (5-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) will battle the Temple Owls (5-6, 0-1 Atlantic 10) on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex on the Coral Gables Campus.
This is the 4th meeting between the two schools, with Miami holding a 2-1 series advantage. The Hurricanes won the last contest, 79-73, on December 8, 1989 at the Michigan State Holiday Classic. The schools last met at the University of Miami on December 28, 1986 with UM coming away with a 77-70 win.
UM is 5-4 on the season with wins over Furman (88-46), Eastern Kentucky (83-66), Florida International (76-61), Florida Atlantic (89-73), and Brown (79-62). The Hurricanes losses came against Tulane (75-66), Florida (85-77), North Carolina State (80-60), and Southern Methodist (76-55). Miami is led offensively by Sheila James (14.6 ppg., 4.6 rpg.), Gina Graziani (10.6 ppg., 6.2 apg.) and Alicia Hartlaub (7.8 ppg., 7.1 rpg.).
Temple is 7-6 entering tomorrow’s contest. Leading the Owls are forward Lisa Jakubowicz (9.4 ppg., 6.5 rpg.), guard Stacey Smalls (8.3 ppg., 2.6 apg.), and guard Nicole Chazar (7.9 ppg., 3.7 rpg).
