Women's Basketball Opens Season At Home

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball teamwill host Furman on Sunday, November 21, at the Knight Sports Complex on theCoral Gables Campus. This is the first meeting between the teams and thegame opens the season for both squads.

UM returns seven letterwinners from last year’s squad that finishedwith a 15-14 overall record and a trip to the Women’s National InvitationalTournament. The Hurricanes will be led this season by senior point guardGina Graziani (Cooper City HS). Graziani, who has started 78 of 82 careergames, finished last season ranked 15th in the nation in assists with a 6.4per game average.

The Lady Paladins will be led by two-time Southern Conference Playerof the Year, Jackie Smith (20.0 ppg., 9.0rpg.). Furman finished with anoverall record of 13-14 a year ago and return seven letterwinners, includingfour starters.
