Women's Basketball Inks Shannon Presswood

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head women’s basketball coachFerne Labati announces the signing of 6-4 center Shannon Presswood(Orangeville, Ontario, Canada) to a national letter of intent to attend theUniversity of Miami next fall. Presswood chose the Hurricanes over EastCarolina, Toledo and West Virginia.
“Shannon is one of the top post players in Canada if not the best,”said Labati. “She will be a difference maker in our program. Not only isshe a true post player in that she plays with her back to the basket but shealso has the ability to turn, face the basket, put the ball on the floor andscore. We are extremely excited to have her join our program.”
Presswood led the Orangeville District Secondary School to the1998-99 bronze medal at the Ontario “AA” Championship last year. As ajunior, she averaged 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.In addition, Presswood has spent the last three years playing for the RoyalCity Rebels club team. Last season, she scored 21 points and 10 reboundsper game while leading the Rebels to the Ontario “AA” consolationchampionship.
