UM's Chow Named to GTE Academic All-America First Team

CORAL GABLES, FL – University of Miami senior Aisha Chow has been selected to the GTE Academic All-America First Team for Spring At-Large sports. In addition to her GTE National Academic All-America honors, Chow was a GTE District III First Team selection as well as a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athlete.
Chow, from Marival, Trinidad, earned a 3.97 average in Microbiology and Immunology while leading the Hurricanes to the state and south region championships. Her 1999 selection marks her second straight season with Academic All-America honors. Last year, Chow was named to the GTE Academic National and All-District First Teams, as well as US Rowing magazine’s All-Academic team.
In addition, her placement on the All-District team marks the third straight season a member of the varsity women’s crew has earned at least district All-America honors. Along with Chow in 1998, Sheila Sachdev earned the honor in 1997.
