Coral Gables, Fla.-The University of Miami Rowing team finished fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships today, improving on their sixth-place finish from a year ago.

The Canes finished fourth behind Duke, Clemson and Virginia. Virginia won the ACC Championship for the 11th time in 12 years.

Miami finished fourth in the First and Second Varsity 8+, and sixth in the First Varsity Four. It was a successful day for the young Hurricane squad, continuing the momentum they had developed throughout the first two races of the season.

“I’m quite pleased with how our squad performed today. We moved up two spots within the ACC from a year ago…It’s definitely solid progress, and considering the youth of our group, it bodes well for our future,” said Head Coach Andrew Carter.

Senior Sarah Medland and Sophomore Katalin Horvath were elected to the ALL-ACC team. For Medland, it was her second consecutive appearance on the squad.
