Women's Basketball Loses A Close One To Notre Dame, 69-65.

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami lost its fifth straight game to Notre Dame, 69-65, in front of 1094 fans on Wednesday, January 2, at the Knight Sports Complex.

The Hurricanes fall to 8-5 (1-1) the season, while Notre Dame improves to 7-5 (1-0) and records its first victory away from home.

Junior guard Alicia Ratay led the Fighting Irish with 23 points including seven three pointers. She shot 8 of 13 from the field and recorded six rebounds.

Freshman forward Jacqueline Batteast added 12 points, 13 rebounds and six assists for the Fighting Irish.

The Hurricanes had four players in double digits led by freshman forward Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Senior guard Sheila James (Orlando, Fla.) followed with 17 points and six steals. Alicia Hartlaub (Shaefferstown, Pa.) and Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) both added 10 points for the Hurricanes.

Miami shot 39 percent from the field to Notre Dame’s 52 percent. Additionally, the Hurricanes only shot 44 percent at the charity stripe.

Miami goes on the road for two weeks where they will face Rutgers on Saturday, January 5, West Virginia on Tuesday, January 8 and Connecticut on Saturday, January 12.
