Soccer Set To Host Villanova

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami soccer team will host cross-divisional opponent Villanova Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.

The Hurricanes enter the contest 9-4-1 overall after a 3-1 win over Seton Hall Friday night. Villanova enters the contest 9-1-3 overall after a 2-0 shutout over Florida International Friday night.

Miami currently in first place in the Northeast Division of the BIG EAST is guaranteed at least a second place finish in the division. With a Boston College win over Virginia Tech Friday night the Hurricanes will host the first round of the BIG EAST tournament Nov. 2-3.

Villanova is currently tied with Rutgers for second place in the Mid-Atlantic Division.

Miami won the only matchup between the two schools with a 2-1 win over the Wildcats in 2000.

Sophomore Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.) broke the career record for most goals scored in a season in the win over Seton Hall Friday night. Butcher has 12 goals on the season. The record formerly belonged to Jennifer Sanchez who scored 11 goals during the 1998 season.

Butcher leads the team with 26 points on the season.
