Brittney Macdonald Named to Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week
Oct. 28, 2008
CORAL GABLES – University of Miami sophomore defender Brittney Macdonald has been named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week after leading the Hurricanes to a 1-0-1 record last week and helping her team record a pair of shutouts.
Miami recorded back-to-back shutouts over ACC foes No.9 Duke and No. 19 Wake Forest. Macdonald was a wall on the back line all week, helping to limit the opposition to nine shots on goal. Additionally, the Littleton, Colo. native scored the lone goal in the victory over Wake Forest, her second of the season.
Macdonald is the first Hurricane to be named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week since Lauren McAdam took the honor on Oct. 15, 2007.
Macdonald and the Hurricanes head out on the road for their final two games of the regular season when they face NC State on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
With just one win on the road trip, Miami will reach 10 regular season wins, tying a program best.
