Britney Butcher Earns BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Sophomore Britney Butcher earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors after leading the University of Miami women’s soccer team to victory tallying two hat tricks this weekend.

Butcher, a native of Bothell, Wash., notched three goals in a 7-0 win against Stetson and again in a 5-1 victory over South Florida.

Butcher led the team in scoring with 24 points last season. In her first two matches of the season she already has a total of 12 points. She scored a total of eight goals last season and has six so far in 2002.

The Hurricanes are off to a perfect 2-0 start under first year head coach Tricia Taliaferro.

Miami is back in action Friday facing LSU in the FSU Invitational.
