CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The second-ranked Miami Hurricanes held a two-hour practice in full pads on Tuesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus to officially kick off game-week preparations for their upcoming clash with the Nittany Lions of Penn State.

“We know we are in for a battle this Saturday and we came out today ready to get to work,” said Coker. “We know Penn State will be ready for us. I’ve stressed that to the players for more than a week now, and I’m encouraged and pleased with the way our guys are going about their work.”

The Hurricanes will continue their game-week work with a closed practice Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Orange Bowl. The team will practice Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree before departing for State College Friday afternoon.

Miami begins the 2001 season on Saturday, September 1, at Penn State in a nationally televised contest (ABC Sports). Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
