Sept. 19, 2001

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The top-ranked Miami Hurricanes (ranked No. 1 by Associated Press and in the ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll) practiced for two hours in full pads on Wednesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus, continuing preparations for their upcoming clash with Pittsburgh.

“We took a little bit of a step back today, but I reiterated to the guys that we have to maintain our drive and our focus this week,” said Hurricanes head coach Larry Coker. “You can expect that during a week like this. We’re right in the middle of a 19-day layoff, so it’s to be expected. But I think we’ll come back strong.”

Miami’s season resumes on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh when the Hurricanes take on the University of Pittsburgh Panthers in a nationally televised (ESPN) game slated to kick off at 7:38 p.m. Eastern Time.
