Miami Women's Soccer Travels To Face FIU

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s soccer team will take a break from BIG EAST action to play cross-town rival Florida International Tuesday at 7 p.m. at University Park.

UM (4-1) is currently on a four-match winning streak, the longest win streak in Hurricane history for the UM soccer team. The Golden Panthers are 2-1 on the season.

The Hurricanes lead the all-time series with FIU 2-1.

UM defeated Providence Sunday afternoon 1-0 at Cobb Stadium. Laura West (Allen, Texas) scored the game-winning goal off of a corner kick delivered by her twin sister Ashley West (Allen, Texas) at 65:35.

The goal was Laura’s second game-winning goal of the season, and Ashley’s second game-winning assist, however, this was their first combined effort.

Laura leads the team with five goals scored and 11 points on the season.

So far this season, the Hurricanes have out-shot their opponents 93 to 36 and out-scored opponents 15 to seven. FIU has scored eight goals this season and taken 25 shot attempts.
