Soccer Falls To No. 19 FSU, 3-1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-The Miami soccer team fell, 3-1, to No. 19 Florida State Thursday night at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee, Fla.
Miami falls to 8-7-1 on the season, while the Seminoles improve to 11-5-0.
The first half both teams played hard, taking five shots a piece. Three of Miami’s five shots were on goal but FSU goalie Ali Mims made three saves in the effort.
The match remained scoreless at half time.
The Seminoles came out on fire the second half, scoring in the first four minutes. Cindy Schofield scored on an assist from Maren Vik Edvardsen.
Four minutes later at 53:46 Schofield scored on a penalty kick to put the Seminoles on top by two.
Schofield earned a hat trick as she scored the third goal of the match for FSU at 79:26.
Miami finally got on the board at 83:02 as Britney Butcher (Bothell, Wash.) scored her fifth goal of the season to put UM back in the match.
The Hurricanes belted out six shots in the second half but were unable to connect.
FSU outshot UM 18 to 11. Miami took five corner kicks compared to three for FSU.
Goalkeeper Elizabeth Swinson (Boca Raton, Fla.) made four saves for Miami.
The Hurricanes are back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. facing Stetson in DeLand, Fla.
