UM's Jones Selected In Second Round Of NBA Draft

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami forward James Jones (Miami American) was selected with the 20th pick of the second round (49th overall) by the Indiana Pacers at the 2003 NBA Draft held in Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

Jones becomes the 15th Hurricane, and the second in as many seasons, to be selected in the NBA Draft. John Salmons was taken in the first round (26th pick) last season by the San Antonio Spurs before being traded to Philadelphia.

Jones averaged 16.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.8 blocks per game last season in earning All-BIG EAST honorable mention honors. Jones, who was also a standout in the classroom, is the only UM basketball player to earn Verizon Academic All-America honors.
