Salmons Named BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI – University of Miami junior guard John Salmons (Philadelphia, PA) was named the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week for the week ending March 4 after leading the Hurricanes to a pair of conference victories.
Salmons, who shared the honor with Syracuse’s Allen Griffin, led Miami to victories over West Virginia and Villanova averaging 26.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. In the two victories he connected on 14-28 (.583) from the field, including 3-7 (.429) from three-point range, and 22-25 (.880) from the line.
Salmons recorded a career-high 30 points to go with 11 rebounds in Miami’s 73-66 win over West Virginia on February 28. He Shot 8-15 from the field and 13-16 from the line.
Salmons followed the West Virginia game with a 23 point, nine rebound and eight assist performance in Miami’s 65-53 win over Villanova on Saturday. Salmons played all 40 minutes hitting 6-9 from the field, including 2-3 from three-point range, and 9-9 from the line.
