(www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricanes are ranked No. 1 by ESPN The Magazine in its preseason college football edition and junior quarterback Ken Dorsey graces the cover of this week’s issue, available on newsstands Wednesday, August 8.

Dorsey, widely regarded as a Heisman Trophy contender, was one of several college football players featured in this issue that serves as the publication’s college football preview for the 2001 season. The Hurricanes, who return 14 starters and 47 lettermen from last season’s 11-1 BIG EAST and Nokia Sugar Bowl Champions, have garnered the top spot in rankings by at least six preseason college football publications this summer: College & Pro Football Newsweekly, Football News, Preview Sports, Street & Smith’s, Playboy and ESPN The Magazine.

Miami enters the 2001 season ranked No. 2 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll released Aug. 2. Miami begins the 2001 season on September 1 at Penn State in a nationally televised game slated for an 8 p.m. EDT kickoff on ABC Sports.
