CORAL GABLES, FLA. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – In a joint announcement, University of Miami Director of Athletics Paul Dee and University of Washington Director of Athletics Barbara Hedges have officially reached an agreement re-scheduling the postponed football game between the two schools for Saturday, November 24. The kickoff time remains undetermined.
“We’ve mutually agreed to re-schedule the game for Saturday, November 24th, but a kickoff time remains undetermined,” Dee said. “Instead of setting a kickoff time, we want the game time to remain flexible while television decides when it can televise the game on that day.”
The game, originally set for Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. EST, was postponed last Tuesday by mutual agreement. All original tickets for the game will be honored for the re-scheduled date of Nov. 24.
The Miami Hurricanes (2-0) are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by Associated Press and in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ rankings. The Hurricanes opened the 2001 season with a pair of impressive victories, knocking off Penn State (33-7) on the road on Sept. 1 and routing Rutgers (61-0) at the Orange Bowl on Sept. 8. Against Washington, Miami is seeking to avenge its only loss of the 2000 season, a 34-29 setback to the Huskies on Sept. 9 in Seattle. Washington (1-0) went on to win the Rose Bowl last January and opened the 2001 campaign with a 23-18 defeat of Michigan on Sept. 8.
