CORAL GABLES, Fla. –

Head coach Tricia Taliaferro has announced the signing of Courtney Alexander (<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Madison, Miss.), Tiffany Solorio (Sacramento, Calif.) and Jessica Wyble (Potomac, Md.) to National Letters of Intent to play soccer at the University of Miami beginning in the fall of 2006.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

“We are really pleased with the group of talent we have in this class,” said Taliaferro. “Individually, Courtney, Tiffany and Jessica all have the opportunity to come in a make a tremendous impact, but more importantly, we are adding three players who really want to help make this one of the premier soccer programs in the country.”

Alexander, a 5-4 midfielder, was a four-year letterwinner at MadisonCentralHigh School where she helped lead MCHS to the 2004-05 Mississippi State Championship and a national No. 6 ranking. While at MCHS, she was named the “Best Midfielder” by the MHSAA in 2004-05 and earned MHSAA First Team All-State honors.

“Courtney is a very fast left-footed flank player who specializes in crossing, said Taliaferro. “She is mentally tough and has a strong desire to learn which will help her become a high level midfielder. That drive, along with her competitive nature will be a major asset to this team.”

Alexander has been a member of the Mississippi Olympic Development Program (ODP) team since 2000 and has also played for the Mississippi United club team since 1998.

Solorio, a 5-5 forward, earned three varsity letters at SacramentoHigh School. At SHS, she garnered 2004 First Team All-Capital Athletic League and 2003 First Team All-Sierra Foothill League honors.

“Tiffany is a special goal scorer who is extremely fast and tenacious with the ball,” said Taliaferro. “I was immediately attracted to Tiffany because of her desire to get into the box and generate opportunities for goals.”

Solorio was a member of the 2001 District V1-V13 ODP team and played for the San Juan Soccer Club in 2005. She was a member of the 2004 Santa Clara soccer club that claimed the 2004 U.S. Soccer Club National Championship.

Wyble, a 5-5 midfielder, was a four-year letterwinner at StoneRidgeHigh School. Last season, she earned Washington Post Second Team All-Metro and Gazette Honorable Mention All-Metro honors while guiding SRHS to the ISL Tournament.

“Jessica is an athletic tactically savvy player who will impact our team in a number of different roles,” said Taliaferro. “Coming in, she is one of the hardest working players I have seen in a long time and her constant effort and technical ability help create opportunities for her teammates.”

Wyble was a member of the Maryland ODP team from 2000-04, serving as team captian for two seasons and was selected to the Super Y ODP National Team Camp. She led the Reston Soccer Club to the Maryland State Finals in 2001 through 2003 and the Virginia State Championship in 2004.
