Nationally-Ranked Miami Soccer Plays Host to Clemson

Coral Gables, Fla. – The No. 25 University of Miami women’s soccer team will host ACC rival Clemson on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the final regular-season home game for the Hurricanes at Cobb Stadium.
Miami (9-4-3, 4-2-1 ACC), who enters the polls for the first time since 2001, is ranked No. 25 in the latest Soccer America Poll and is receiving votes in polls by both the NSCAA and Soccer Buzz. The Hurricanes enter Saturday’s contest in fourth place in the ACC, while Clemson (8-3-4, 1-2-4 ACC) is eighth in the ACC and has played to double overtime in six of its last seven games – going 1-2-4 in that span.
The Hurricanes are 1-2-0 all-time versus the Tigers, and last defeated Clemson on the road in 2005, 1-0.
Miami will honor its four seniors – Lindsay Curtin (Fairfax, Va.), Lauren McAdam (Simsbury, Conn.), Akilah Moore (Evanston, Ill.) and Sheuneen Ta (London, England) – as well as senior student manager and former soccer player Jessica Gillman and junior Jenna Levenson (Boca Raton, Fla.) before the game on Saturday.
The Hurricanes are led in scoring by freshman Brittney Steinbruch (Wyckoff, N.J.) with 35 points on 16 goals and three assists. She ranks fifth in the nation with 1.0 goal per game and is ninth in the NCAA with 2.19 points per game. In ACC games, Steinbruch leads the league in goals per game, shots per game and points per game, and is tied for first in game-winning goals.
Fellow freshman Lauren Singer (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) is second on the team with 20 points on seven goals and a team-leading six assists, while McAdam anchors the defense with a 1.30 goals against average and four shutouts this season. In ACC games, McAdam is second in the conference with 5.43 saves per game and is tied for second in shutouts.
Clemson is led by Samantha Fortier with five goals and three assists, while Molly Franklin has recorded a team-leading eight assists.
