Freshman Goalie Earns BIG EAST & National Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Freshman Alex Alford (Atlanta, Ga.) was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week after guiding the Miami soccer team to a 2-0 week.

Alford posted two shutouts in the Hurricanes to two wins at the Florida Atlantic Tournament.

She was also named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week.

The freshman stopped six shots in a 1-0 overtime win over Indiana and had six saves in a 2-0 victory against Loyola (Md.).

The Hurricanes are back in action Friday traveling to face UCF at 8 p.m.
