McClinton Transfers To Miami

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Head men’s basketball coach Frank Haith announced today that former Siena College guard Jack McClinton (Baltimore, Md.) has transferred to the University of Miami.

McClinton (6-1, 185) started 23 of 30 games as a freshman last season and averaged 13.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He was named to the 2004-05 MAAC All-Rookie team after earning Rookie of the Week honors six times during the season.

“Jack (McClinton) is an extremely versatile guard,” says Haith. “His ability to score, rebound, defend and distribute the basketball will make him a tremendous asset to our program.”

McClinton ended the season as the team’s leader in several categories including points (408), assists (82), defensive rebounds (122), three-point field goals made (46), three-point field goal percentage (.357), field goals made(137), free throws made (88), free throw percentage (.815) and minutes played (32.3).

McClinton must sit out the 2005-06 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2006-07 season.
