MIAMI POST-GAME QUOTES

HEAD COACH LARRY COKER:
“Give Temple credit they played hard and gave it their best effort. They represented themselves. But we’re in the stretch with four really tough games. Our season starts now. I’m excited about the challenges over the next four weeks.”

“We played well in the 3rd quarter and in the second half. I’d be more concerned if we had gotten off to a good start with big leads and couldn’t finish.”

“We’ve had some really easy games, but I don’t want to get into a track because our next four are going to be tough. You can’t always rely on the big Phillip Buchanon run back. We have to get back to the blue-collar ways of doing things.”

QUARTERBACK KEN DORSEY:
“It’s amazing how easy the game was after (breaking the record) that. It’s an honor to be in the record books with some great players who are also friends of mine. I wanted the record more just to give them a hard time.”

“We need to go out next week and play well. I wish I could come out and tell everyone to play better. If we play like this early the next couple of weeks, we can be in trouble. We’re starting a whole new season now. Now we’re in the playoffs.”

PHILLIP BUCHANON:
“The return was a middle return, they made some good blocks and made the right cuts and hit it up in there and scored.”

“We have tremendous players on special teams. They are willing to block and do whatever it takes to allow us to score.”

ON THE SECONDARY:
“We just played defense today. They (Temple) seemed like they were trying to establish a running game, they kept pounding the ball, and hadn’t really be throwing the ball. I guess that was part of their scheme.”

“Our next four games, it’s like playoff time. We have Boston College, Syracuse, then Washington and Virginia Tech. Everybody has to come together as a team and we have to step it up.”

ED REED
“They just came in wanting to get out of here. I didn’t think they’d run the ball as they did. Being that our linebacker haven’t played a lot, why not?”

ON THE INTERCEPTION:
“I had told James Lewis that I was going out there on that certain series to get an interception. I feel like I’ve made some good accomplishments here and that’s another one. I’m already honored to be in the category with guys like Bennie Blades. It wouldn’t really matter to me if I didn’t get any more interceptions as long as we win.”

JEREMY SHOCKEY
“They were double teaming on the outside and I was fortunate to get open on my routes – so today I was fortunate enough to be the receiver. It’s now that our season starts. We try to erase this game and everything we have done in the past, these next games coming up are big and this is exactly what we want to do in our season and this is where it starts.”

TEMPLE UNIVERSITY POST-GAME QUOTES

HEAD COACH BOBBY WALLACE:
“They fought hard and they are a great football team that has a lot of great players and made it really tough on us.”

“The thing we did today that we hadn’t done all year is that we made them beat us. Besides our punt coverage I think we didn’t have a lot of turnovers and foolish mistakes. Defensively I think we did a good job of playing them hard.”

ON UM’s DEFENSE:
“We’re not as talented as they are in certain areas.”
