Steinbruch Earns Pair of Weekly Accolades

Aug. 26, 2008

CORAL GABLES – Brittney Steinbruch of the Hurricanes women’s soccer team collected a pair of honors for her performance in a 3-0 win over Stetson, last Sunday, where the 2007 ACC Freshman of the Year netted two goals in the season opening victory.

Steinbruch is the first Miami soccer player to earn the SoccerFla.com Player of the Week Award since Paulelette Ricks-Chambers in September of 2006. SoccerFla.com recognizes the top collegiate player from all of the Florida universities during the previous week.

The standout sophomore was also recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com as member of their weekly national team. This is the first weekly national honor from TopDrawerSoccer.com. However, last season, Steinbruch was recognized as a member of the site’s all-rookie squad.

Steinbruch and the rest of the Hurricanes will be back in action this Friday, Aug. 29, when they host cross-town rival FIU at Cobb Stadium at 7 p.m.
