Coral Gables, Fla. – University of Miami freshman forward Brittney Steinbruch (Wyckoff, N.J.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after helping the Hurricanes to a program-best 2-0 start in conference play over the weekend.

The true freshman recorded a pair of game-winning goals and an assist as Miami knocked off NC State and then-seventh ranked and defending NCAA champion North Carolina in a pair of home contests to open the ACC slate.

In Thursday’s 2-1 win over the Wolfpack, Steinbruch registered an assist on the first Hurricane goal and then knocked in the game winner. She followed that performance with the golden goal in Sunday’s 1-0 shutout of North Carolina. It was Steinbruch’s team-leading 11th goal of the season and her fourth game-winning goal.

She ranks sixth in the nation in points per game (2.4) and goals per game (1.1), and currently leads the ACC in shots (64), shots per game (6.40) and game-winning goals (4). Steinbruch is also second in the league in points, points per game and goals per game.

The two-time New Jersey Player of the Year as a prep at Ramapo High School, she also played for the U.S. U-20 National Team in the spring.
