Miami's Taliaferro Named to U-16 National Team Coaching Staff

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head soccer coach Tricia Taliaferro has been selected to serve on as an assistant coach on the U-16 National Team at the 2004 U.S. Soccer Girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) Thanksgiving InterRegional held November 20-27 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.

During the seven-day event, Taliaferro, who completed her third season at Miami this fall, will join several U.S. Women’s National Team and college coaches as they supervise ODP teams from several regions composed of the nation’s top youth soccer players in a series of matches and rigorous training.

The BOCA InterRegional features four regional teams in each of the 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 age groups. Also in attendance will be the Scottish National Team.

“It is an honor to be considered for this position,” Taliaferro stated. “It’s a privilege to get the opportunity to work with (Region I head coach) Sue Ryan and with the best players in the country.”

The U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected fro international competition.
