Volleyball Gameday: Miami vs. Iowa State

Ames, Iowa – The 25th-ranked University of Miami volleyball team takes on 14th-ranked and No. 4 overall seed Iowa State University inside Hilton Coliseum on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament – Ames [Iowa] bracket. The winner will advance to the Sweet 16 and into the Minneapolis [Minn.] Regional.

Miami (26-4) used solid blocking and timely kills on Friday to defeat Northern Illinois for its first NCAA Tournament victory since advancing to the Sweet 16 of the 2002 Tournament. The Canes used a team-high 18 kills from Christine Williamson, as well as double-double efforts from Alex Johnson, Lane Carico and Katie Gallagher to earn the win. Emani Sims led the front line attack for the Canes defensively with a match-high six blocks (assisted).

Iowa State advanced to Saturday’s match with a 3-0 sweep of UW-Milwaukee on Friday night. The homestanding Cyclones took down the Panthers on scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23.
