2021 Commencement Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, all graduates will need to claim their ticket for the ceremony.
During the application for graduation, all students had the opportunity to indicate how many guest tickets they would need. If you need to make a change to your guest tickets, please email commencement@miami.edu
To safely accommodate your guests and others, the number of guest tickets is four (4) per graduate.
There are no extra tickets or a waitlist available.
Yes, every guest above the age of two (2) needs a ticket. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests.
They will be Reserved seating. Seat Locations will be displayed when the tickets are delivered via your UM email.
All tickets are mobile tickets and will be delivered to each student via their UM email. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests. Each guest must have a ticket. Ticket Transfer will be available on May 3rd if you prefer to send your guest tickets to multiple groups.

Step 1: Log In to your Students MyAccount.
Step 2: Select your ceremony which you ordered for.
Step 3: Click “Transfer” under the seats you wish to transfer.
Step 4: Type in the mobile phone number of the person you wish to transfer the tickets to.
Step 5: The recipient will receive a link to login or create an account in order to accept the transfer.
Step 6: Once the transfer has been accepted, you will receive an email confirmation that they are ready to enter the gates!
After the tickets have been emailed on May 3rd, if the ticket delivery email can’t be recovered, go to your MyAccount page on your desktop and re-issue the tickets. If you or any of your guests lose or forget your mobile ticket on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office at the South Box Office. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.
No. All tickets must be downloaded to an Apple or Android smartphone and displayed on that device for entry. Mobile delivery tickets that are printed out will not be able to be used for entry.
It is recommended that all tickets be transferred to the recipient instead of texting a screenshot. Screenshots can lead to scanning issues on the day of the ceremony. Transferring is now easier than ever by only having to enter in a mobile phone number.
Yes. You may have all the tickets on one device. Although, you will have to scan all the tickets for each person upon arrival, so it is recommended you transfer the tickets to each attendee.
All that is needed is for one person you are attending with to have a smartphone to scan in all of the tickets. If you do not attend with anyone who has a digital wallet, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office on the day of the ceremony.
If your phone dies on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office on the South side of the venue. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.

Yes, please email the Office of Commencement at Commencement@miami.edu with your name, C#, degree, school/college you’re graduating from, and # of guest tickets needed (max of 4). Please note, any late students who need cap and gown will have to pick up cap and gown on the day of the ceremony from the extras inventory, while supplies last. All graduates must wear regalia in order to participate in the commencement ceremony.
All attendees and graduates are required to wear a mask at all times. Students will be individually physically distanced from each other throughout the ceremony. Guests will be assigned seats that are physically distanced in pods or groups from other guests.
