CAREER: One of college football’s finest defensive ends…a pass rushing force the last two seasons for Miami racking up 14 quarterback sacks over that span…a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league’s head coaches…a finalist for the 2002 Ted Hendricks Defensive End Award to be announced Jan. 2 in Tempe.

2002 (SENIOR): A First Team All-BIG EAST selection…ranked seventh on the team with 55 tackles (31 solos) entering the Fiesta Bowl…was second on the team with 16 tackles for losses totalling 62 yards and seven quarterback sacks totalling 44 yards…his 26 quarterback hurries also was second on the team…had eight tackles (five solos), including two sacks (nine yards) and 4 tackles for losses (12 yards) against Virginia Tech…also recovered two fumbles against the Hokies…made five tackles at Syracuse, including two for losses and had six quarterback hurries…made five tackles, including a quarterback sack, and was credited with two quarterback hurries against Pittsburgh…had two tackles and a quarterback hurry, along with a tackle for a loss, at Tennessee…made six tackles (two solos) and three hurries at Rutgers…had one tackle, a stop for a loss, at West Virginia…made six tackles and had two quarterback hurries against Florida State…credited with five stops, including two sacks for 18 yards in losses, against Connecticut…had a season and career-high nine tackles (seven solos), including one sack, against Boston College…also had four hurries and broke up two passes against the Eagles…made four tackles (three solos), one for a loss, at Temple…debuted in 2002 with two tackles, including a sack, and eight quarterback hurries, in addition to a broke up pass, at Florida…missed the season opener against Florida A&M because of a pectoral injury.

2001 (JUNIOR): Emerged as one of the nation’s finest defensive ends…named a Third-Team All-American by the Associated Press…named First-Team All-BIG EAST by the conference’s head coaches…made his Miami debut after sitting out the 2000 season as a junior college transfer from Hinds (Miss.) Junior College…was joined by fellow Hurricanes defensive end Andrew Williams, another former Hinds JC talent…racked up an amazing 48 quarterback hurries…also excelled in run defense…racked up seven quarterback sacks for 38 yards in losses…made 15 tackles for losses totaling 54 yards…totaled 59 tackles (30 unassisted) and forced three fumbles…also intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown…made a memorable Miami debut in the season opener at Penn State, totaling five tackles, one for a loss and forcing a fumble, while while tallying five quarterback hurries…had three hurries and one assisted tackle in the win over Rutgers…made six tackles and hurried passers five times against Pittsburgh…notched five tackles, three behind the line of scrimmage, and four hurries against Troy State…made six tackles, had one quarterback sack, and four hurries in the 49-27 win at Florida State…notched seven tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for losses in a 45-3 win over West Virginia…had six tackles, one for a loss, and three hurries in a 38-0 shutout of Temple…made six tackles, one for a loss, in an 18-7 win at Boston College…garnered seven tackles in the shutout over Syracuse…made two tackles, had one quarterback sack, and intercepted a pass that he returned 14 yards for a score in a 65-7 win over Washington…had a season-high eight tackles (six solos), four tackles for losses totaling 14 yards, and had three sacks (12 yards), along with two forced fumbles, seven hurries and a deflected pass in the victory at Virginia Tech…made two unassisted tackles, one for a loss, in the 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the 2002 Rose Bowl.

2000 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the 2000 season as a redshirt year after signing with Miami in July of 2000…provided sturdy competition for Miami’s outstanding offensive line as a scout team defensive end.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Hinds CC (Raymond, Mississippi)…one of the nation’s top junior college programs…registered 64 tackles (38 solos), 12 quarterback sacks and recovered three fumbles in 1999 as a sophomore for a team that went 10-2…spent his freshman season at Pittsburgh State in Kansas, a Division II school, where he sat out a season before transferring to Hinds.

HIGH SCHOOL: Ely…a three-year starter who racked up 80 tackles, 17 quarterback sacks and forcing seven fumbles during his senior season in 1997.

PERSONAL: Born 12/15/78…full name is Jerome McDougle, Jr….criminology major…the younger brother of former University of Oklahoma offensive tackle Stockar McDougle of the NFL’s Detroit Lions…originally signed with Maryland after an outstanding prep career at Pompano Beach’s Ely High School…son of Jerome and Linda McDougle.
