Mark DeSantes returns for his seventhseason with the Gaels. He joins the new coaching staff taking on the role ofVolunteer Assistant Coach. “Mark’s knowledge of the Iona softballprogram and the current players will aid our coaching staff in acquainting ourselves with the Iona College softball family,” said Head Coach JaimeWohlbach.

DeSantes came to the Gaels via Pace Universitywhere he spent two seasons from 2000 through 2001 as an assistant coach for theSetters. DeSantes was also the Head Coach of the Westchester Stars, anUnder-16 team that played in Summer and Fall leagues in 1998. He spent twoyears as an assistant with the Stars Under-18 team from 1995-96.

DeSantes is a 1969 graduate of Long IslandUniversity where he received his BA in Physical Education. He is presentlyretired after 33 years of teaching and now resides with his wife Elena in NewRochelle.
