M. Tennis Seals 4-1 Win Over Duke
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (13-10, 5-7 ACC) prevailed for the 4-1 win over the Duke Blue Devils (10-12, 5-7 ACC) on Sunday evening at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes opened with the doubles point after back-to-back wins at the top two courts. Miami’s Antonio Prat and Rafael Segado earned the 6-3 win over Teddy Truwit and Cooper Williams, before No. 43 pair of Mehdi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak clinched it with a 6-4 win over Pedro Rodenas and Gerard Ripoll.
Singles was a tough battle despite Jules Garot and Sadaoui taking early wins. Garot took down Truwit, 6-3, 6-2, on court six, while Sadaoui earned the 6-3, 6-4 win over Dylan Long to take the 3-0 lead.
Duke then earned a point with a 6-4, 6-4 win from Alexander Visser over Segado. The top three courts were back-and-forth fights from start to finish, until No. 118 Nacho Serra Sanchez pulled through for the 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 47 Williams to claim his highest career ranked win and the match for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes return for their regular season finale on Saturday against Florida State.
